Keenrig

Self-host apps without a domain name

No domain needed to start self-hosting with Keenrig: the admin panel runs on your server IP. Add a domain later with one record, or use a Keenrig Cloud name.

Many self-hosting tools need a domain right at install, because their dashboard lives on a subdomain. Keenrig does not: once installed, the admin panel opens on your server IP.

Start on the IP address

curl -fsSL https://get.keenrig.com | sudo sh

Open the address the installer prints (http://<server-ip>/), get the setup token, and create the owner account. Everything runs on your machine, with no domain and no cloud account yet.

When you want proper addresses for your apps

  • Your own domain: add one record pointing it at the server IP; the HTTPS certificate is obtained and renewed on the server itself.
  • Or set it at install time: add --domain example.com to the install command.
  • Or pair with Keenrig Cloud (Standard plan) for a ready-made *.keenrig.com name with HTTPS and no DNS to touch.

You can switch between these at any time. If you unplug the cloud later, move your apps to your own domain first — *.keenrig.com names live on the cloud side.
