Install Keenrig
One command on a fresh server. You do not need a domain or a cloud account; both can come later.
Requirements
- Operating system
- Ubuntu 22.04 or 24.04 LTS
- Memory
- 2 GB RAM recommended (n8n alone wants 1 GB)
- Ports
- 80 and 443 open to the internet — or pair with Keenrig Cloud to go through a tunnel
- Access
- root, or a user with sudo
Run the installer
- Connect to your server over SSH.
- Run the command below. The installer checks the machine, starts Keenrig, then tests ports 80 and 443 from outside and tells you plainly what it found.Want to read the script first? It is plain POSIX sh:
curl -fsSL https://get.keenrig.com | sudo shcurl -fsSL https://get.keenrig.com | less - Open the address it prints (http://<server-ip>/), get the setup token with the command below, and create the owner account.
journalctl -u keenrig-box | grep 'setup token'
Installer flags
Pass flags after `sh -s --`, for example: curl -fsSL https://get.keenrig.com | sudo sh -s -- --domain example.com
--domain <fqdn> | Domain for the admin panel. Optional; you can set it later. |
|---|---|
--join <token> | Pair with Keenrig Cloud. The Console prints the command with this token. |
--gateway <name> | caddy (default), nginx or nginx-owasp. |
--channel <name> | Release channel, stable by default. |
--auto-upgrade · --no-auto-upgrade | Turn automatic upgrades on or off. |
If the server cannot be reached from the internet
The installer says so plainly when nothing answers on ports 80/443 — usually closed ports, a firewall, or a home connection behind CGNAT. The server is still installed and running. If it is paired with Keenrig Cloud, the installer sets up a Cloudflare tunnel so your apps are reachable without opening any port.
After install
Open Catalog in the admin panel, pick an app and press Install. The free tier runs up to 3 apps.
